i need to quickly summarise my project and how i have got to where i am from the initial theme of vintage.
i started by drawing lots of vintage objects, anything i could find, i drew. i was automatically drawn to my collection of vintage broaches. they're decorative, diverse and interesting to study. when i had to choose a context, i decided to go for fashion. i haven't studied fashion that much so thought it'd be a challenge. i started to think of broaches and how they're added to garments for decoration. after researching a few designers (which you can find on this blog) i thought of the idea of making corsages. they're basically a decorative element on a garment. like a broach but made of fabric and more exciting materials. it's a perfect idea to inspire me, create experiments and make final outcomes. my deadlines IN A WEEK.

corsage broaches.
it's funny how they call the vintage broaches i've been studying for the last few weeks 'corsage broaches' and i have only just realised. i guess it's because they all spiral out from the biggest jewel... hmm.
heatherette and outcome ideas.
by having vintage as my theme i have been looking at old photos, objects but specifically jewellery.
i created a sample the other day, a simple hand weave, but pinned in one of my cameos.
i thought about the effect of making my own broaches and incorporating them into the weave or textile itself.
also, i have been looking at dress coursages on the runway;

heatherette 2008.
heatherette is a fashion label formed by the design due traver rains and richie rich. their fashion is extremely creative and their choice of media is mad. they add big, decorative elements to their dresses (like a coursage but better.) i know heatherette are a bit too mad for my colour palatte and theme, but the idea of making decorative coursages to be pinned onto dresses is really interesting and i can't wait to start experimenting.
a way i could approach this is to hand weave a coursage, and detail it with stitch and jewels and other vintage objects. i think this could be FUN. :)missoni home.

wowowowoww. i might love missoni home more than missoni fashion... their choices of colour are beautiful and the mood boards are really helpful and inspiring. i think missoni have the best eye for colour, detailing and arranging their products. they really sell it to the viewer. or atleast they've sold it to me.
thanks for confusing my contextual ideas!
