east anglian basketry.

there's a current exhibition in the gallery at nuca at the moment, displaying lots of baskets...  'items representing the immensely rich and varied basketry culture of East Anglia.' as this is our 'weave' unit, i guess basketry links in really well.

plaits, browns, beige, greens, oranges.

so, as a drawing exercise, we had to study the baskets and do some mark making exercises. we had to think about the types of line we were using and weren't allowed to actually draw the baskets. we were told to look at the shadows, negative space, details connections and use a variety of hard and soft line.

i will post some of my sketchbook work later. although, i don't feel very confident with my drawing at the moment. this project is starting to go downhill...
