''Missoni knitwear is known for its multitude of patterns such as stripes, geometrics, and abstract florals, in a kaleidoscope of colours. They are also known for the liberal use of many different fabrics such as wool, cotton, linen, rayon and silk.'
i've tryed to display examples that relate to my colour scheme and drawing. i have experimented with lots of shapes - but mostly triangles - so it's easy to link missoni with my mark making sketches. the colours are also particular and the examples above definitely have a vintage feel about them.
missoni fashion has come to symbolise chic knitwear with soft, comfortable ‘put together’ shapes that create an unmistakable image. Their knitwear creations are instantly recognisable by their distinctive rainbow stripes and zigzags. From swimwear and handbags to trousers and dresses, their designs are a wonderful combination of colour and texture.
vintage missoni:
i've also added this image of a vintage missoni jumper from the 70's. the colour palette is spot on and has retro appeal. i really like the blouson sleeves and fitted waistband.
this research will help me decide a context for my current work. which will then help me design my contextual and inspiration boards in the next couple of weeks.
